Friday, December 7, 2018 (Anchorage) – This morning Governor Michael J. Dunleavy issued his first executive proclamation naming Friday, December 7, 2018 as Pearl Harbor Day.
The surprise attack led to a declaration of war against Japan and America’s entry into World War II which became an epic struggle to free millions of people across the world who were living in tyranny.
Governor Dunleavy’s proclamation honors the memory of the 2,403 sailors, soldiers and civilians lost that fateful day and gives Alaskans the opportunity to reflect on all those who have served their country in the armed forces.
The Alaska flag will be flown at half-staff for the day to honor their memory
